About:

  • Its objective is to reinforce the quality, accessibility, reach, and results of nutrition-related efforts.
  • This mission lays significant emphasis on promoting practices that nurture health, wellness, and immunity against diseases, all under the ambit of POSHAN – PM’s Overarching Scheme for Holistic Nutrition.

Main highlights:

  • Nurturing Health: It revolves around awareness concerning pivotal phases of human life: pregnancy, infancy, childhood, and adolescence. At its core, this initiative is encapsulated in the theme of “Suposhit Bharat, Sakshar Bharat, Sashakt Bharat” – translating to a Nutrition-rich India, Educated India, and Empowered India.
  • Nationwide Nutrition Awareness Campaigns: A series of campaigns will be conducted, each focusing on key themes that hold the power to shape our future. The two significant ones are Exclusive Breastfeeding and Complementary Feeding.
  • Swasth Balak Spardha: Seeks to instill a spirit of healthy competition in the pursuit of nutrition and overall well-being. This not only motivates individuals to embrace a healthier lifestyle but also fosters a sense of camaraderie in the quest for better health.
  • Poshan Bhi Padhai Bhi: Poshan Bhi Padhai Bhi (Nutrition as well as Education) is another  endeavor within Poshan Maah. This initiative strives to bridge the gap between these two critical aspects of human development by nourishing both minds and bodies. It also seeks to create a holistic foundation for future generations.
  • Mission LiFE: It underscores the importance of a balanced lifestyle by emphasizing on nutritious food.  It also signifies the importance of physical activity in maintaining overall health and well-being.
  • Tribal-Focused Nutrition Sensitization program: It aims to create awareness to the specific needs and cultural contexts of tribal communities, ensuring that no one is left behind in the pursuit of better nutrition.
  • Addressing Anaemia: Through the Test, Treat, Talk approach, this initiative endeavors to tackle anaemia. It starts with diagnosing the condition through testing, followed by appropriate treatment, and finally, fostering open discussions to raise awareness about anaemia and its prevention.
