National Internet Exchange of India (NIXI) is launching the BhashaNet portal on Universal Acceptance Day to promote linguistic diversity and digital inclusion in India.

About National Internet Exchange of India (NIXI):

  • It was established in 2003 under the Companies Act 2013.
  • NIXI aims to improve Internet quality and reduce costs for ISPs by routing domestic traffic within the country.
  • It works to enhance Internet adoption in India by managing Internet infrastructure and overseeing the.IN ccTLD.
  • NIXI also operates as the National Internet Registry (NIR), known as the Indian Registry for Internet Names and Numbers (IRINN), and offers Internet Exchange Points (IXPs).


What is Universal Acceptance (UA) Day?

  • It is organized by Universal Acceptance Steering Group (UASG) and the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN).
  • It raises awareness and promotes UA adoption, ensuring all domain names and email addresses are equally accessible.
  • It enables everyone to use their preferred domain name and email address, regardless of script or language, for full Internet access.
  • The first  Universal Acceptance Day in 2023 marked a global effort to advocate for universal acceptance and a multilingual Internet.
