The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment launched a vehicle for the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan(NMBA) in collaboration with Brahma Kumaris.

Insights from National Survey and National Action Plan

  • Survey Findings: A survey conducted by the Department of Social Justice & Empowerment through the National Drug Dependence Treatment Centre (NDDTC) at AIIMS, New Delhi, revealed alarming trends in substance abuse, with alcohol, cannabis, and opioids being the most commonly used substances.
  • National Action Plan (NAPDDR): The Ministry implemented the National Action Plan for Drug Demand Reduction (NAPDDR) to combat drug demand effectively. This initiative provides financial assistance for preventive education, capacity building, vocational training, and rehabilitation center establishment.
  • Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan (NMBA): NMBA, launched by the Ministry, aims to raise awareness about the adverse effects of substance abuse, particularly among the youth. Targeting educational institutions and communities, NMBA emphasizes preventive measures and aims to foster a drug-free India through active participation and community engagement.
