About Survey of Villages and Mapping with Improvised Technology in Village Areas (SVAMITVA) Scheme:
- It is a centrally sponsored scheme under the ministry of the Ministry of Panchayati Raj (MoPR).
- It was launched in 2020.
- The scheme primarily aims to ensure property validation of the households of rural India in villages.
- The mapping under is conducted by drone technology and a Continuously Operating Reference Station (CORS).
- Objectives of the Scheme:
- Make rural India financially stable by enabling them to use their property as a financial asset for loans and other benefits.
- To facilitate tax determination, contribute directly to Gram Panchayats (GPs) in states with devolution or to the state exchequer.
- Develop accurate land records, survey infrastructure, and GIS maps for multi-departmental use.
- Reduce the issues related to property disputes and legal cases.
