India Extends $200 Million Defence Credit Line to Angola

Context:

Recently,  India extended a $200 million Line of Credit (LoC) to Angola to enhance bilateral defence cooperation and support Angola’s defence procurement and capacity building.

  • It is the second-largest Portuguese-speaking (Lusophone) country in both total area and population.
  • It is the seventh-largest country in Africa.
  • It is situated in southwestern Africa.

    • Southeast: Zambia

    • The Cuango River forms a boundary with the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

    • Heavily influenced by the cold Benguela Current, which flows northward along Angola’s western coastline.
